The Harvard Club of Shanghai is inviting a limited group of 10 members to the next Mentorship Dinner. The series features dinner and discussions with notable Harvard alumni. The purpose of the dinner is to provide an intimate setting for private conversations and allow more recent graduates to ask questions of experienced Alumni. There will be a general dinner topic to begin with, but other questions regarding career choices, difficult work decisions, insights into the workplace and opportunities are also open for discussion.
Our next speaker is Mrs. Carol Liao, HBS 98, Managing Director of Boston Consulting Group, Greater China. Carol will focus on her comprehensive experience with consulting in China, as well as current industry trends.

ABOUT THE MENTOR
Carol Liao is a Senior Partner of The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and the Managing Director of the firm’s Greater China practice. She used to lead BCG's Consumer and Retail Practice in Asia. She is currently based in the firm’s Hong Kong office.
Ms. Liao joined BCG Greater China in 1995. She has about 20 years of consulting experience with both multinational companies and Asian corporations, across a wide range of strategy and organizational issues. As one of the core leaders of BCG’s Asia Consumer practice as well as the leader of BCG’s Center for Consumer and Customer Insight in Asia, Ms. Liao has led business growth and optimization initiatives for numerous major global consumer companies in China and Asia.
Ms. Liao has published a number of major BCG publications, including A Change of Pace in Chinese Consumer Sentiment, Pharma’s Next Billion Patients: The Impact of Health Care Reform in China, 2009-2011, The Age of the Affluent: The Dynamics of China’s Next Consumption Engine, Dressing Up: Capturing the Dynamic Growth of China’s Fashion Market, Navigating the New Consumer Realities: Consumer Sentiment 2011, Big Prizes in Small Places: China’s Rapidly Multiplying Pockets of Growth, The Keys to the Kingdom: Unlocking China’s Consumer Power, Foreign or Local Brands in China?, The Quest for Defendable Scale in China, and Winning the Hearts and Minds of China’s Consumers. Ms. Liao is also a coauthor of the BCG book The $10 Trillion Prize: Capturing the Newly Affluent in China and India (Harvard Business Review Press, October 2012). Ms. Liao holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a B.A. in Commercial Law from Peking University.
