Branding – what does it mean? The almighty logo alone, is not sufficient anymore to create the engaging, thrilling and exciting brand experiences needed to attract and keep tenants and visitors to a building, district or city, and drive the financial value of the asset for its owners.
 
Presenting the Garden Square case study (previously called Huamin Centre in Jing' An), Blackstone enlisted brand specialist Eight to help create and manage a design-led brand experience that helped drive the profitability and the value of this project.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Chris Fjelddahl, Partner of Eight Partnership. Armed with an MBA in Finance, Chris stepped off the plane at Kai Tak airport in Hong Kong on a hot summer day in August of 1991. He spent two years with McDonald’s, before setting up from the corner of a desk in his living room, what has now grown into the largest independent brand consulting and communications company in Asia. Having worked intimately with CEOs around Asia for the past 16 years, he has developed strong ties with renowned “Captains of Industry” in the region. He is often called in to provide personalised guidance on big branding questions – articulating business purpose, launching and sunsetting brands in the context of mergers and acquisitions, rejuvenating tired brands, reorganising brand portfolios...etc. His industry exposure over the years has provided him with rich expertise with brands such as Apple, American Express, Cathay Pacific, HSBC, Starbucks and Virgin Atlantic. 

Highly renowed for his property expertise, Chris’s opinions and views are often sought after by leading individuals and families in Asia’s property industry. This includes Hines, Tishman-Speyer, Xintiandi, Kerry, Blackstone, and more. Chris studied economics and finance under Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the Minister of Industry (1991-93), then Finance Minister (1997-99) of France. Chris is a genuine Norwegian viking (minus the roughest edges) raised in Sweden and France. He has three children. He is an avid adventure racer, often found gracing steep mountain summits or paddling down swift-moving rivers in a kayak.
